Troubleshooting PILZ PAScal 1.9.0 Compatibility Issues with Rockwell SISTEMA Library: Seeking Workarounds and Older Versions

Question:

Hello everyone, I'm encountering an issue with the Pilz PAScal tool (version 1.9.0) as it currently does not support the import of the Rockwell SISTEMA library (version 2). It seems that PAScal is limited to importing only older library versions, specifically those up to version 1.1.6. I've reached out to Pilz for assistance and am currently waiting for their response. In the meantime, does anyone know of a workaround for this compatibility problem? Alternatively, if someone has access to an older Rockwell SISTEMA library (like version 1.1.x), I would greatly appreciate it if you could share it. Thank you in advance for your help! Best regards, J

To resolve this issue, I suggest manually entering all the necessary data. Upon review, the earliest version I possess is 1.1.9, which dates back to December 2015. Therefore, version 1.1.6 must be quite outdated. For your reference, I have uploaded the relevant files to Dropbox, and they will be available for the next thirty days. Here are the links: - RA_LIBRARY_SAFETY_S1-1-9-1_December_2015_locked.slb - RA_LIBRARY_NONSAFETY_NS1-1-9-1_December_2015_locked.slb Feel free to access them before they expire.

Thank you, Timbert! I’ll give it a try, and if that doesn’t work out, I’ll resort to hand-balling.

A few years back, leading safety vendors collectively established a new standard for sharing safety data libraries, which involves an updated file format. The speed of adoption varied among these vendors, potentially leading to compatibility issues.

Pilz recently responded regarding the latest update to PAScal, noting that it now accommodates VDMA format files. However, it's important to mention that not all manufacturers, including Rockwell, support this format. If you plan to integrate Rockwell components into the PAScal software, you will have to develop them as custom components.
